Niya Outdoor curates durable outdoor and lifestyle goods chosen for their quality and production ethos. We focus on responsible materials, thoughtful design and products that earn their place over time.
Our range includes bags for travel and adventure, layers, outdoor living essentials and a small selection of trusted tools — all selected for how they’re made and how they’re used.
Niya Outdoor began
with a simple decision: to look for the South African option first.
What followed was a series of discoveries — local makers producing goods that often matched or exceeded global standards in quality, innovation and responsibility. Yet many were hard to find, overshadowed by cheap, disposable imports.
Niya brings these finds together under one roof. Mostly South African-made, always carefully chosen.
Mostly local. Intentionally global.
South African brands form the heart of Niya Outdoor. Alongside them, we include a small number of international products that have proven themselves over years of use in South African conditions.
Every product, whether local or global, is held to the same standard: durability, responsible materials and long-term use.

Niya Outdoor is located on the Garden Route in the Western Cape, a place that captures everything we love about South Africa.
We’re surrounded by indigenous forests, warm beaches, the dramatic Outeniqua mountain range, and iconic trails like the Otter Trail. It’s a landscape that naturally encourages time outdoors, and continually reminds us why durability, function and good design matter.
Who we are
Misty Dawn Burger Founder
Linguistics scholar, horse owner, birder and hiker. Believes that less is more. Has a strong connection to nature. Deeply rooted in Africa, with years of travel across southern and eastern Africa shaping Niya Outdoor's sense of place and purpose. Her antidote to full-time online 9-to-5 is to hit the trails whenever possible. Find her on a Saturday morning at the farmer's market or out riding 🐴

Troy Burger Tech stuff
Troy is currently studying a bachelor of science in computing. When he’s not working behind the scenes, you’ll find him rollerblading, hiking or surfing along the South Peninsula, an area known for its world-class waves and extraordinary biodiversity. His perspective keeps Niya Outdoor forward-looking, efficient and technically sound.
