Tyvek is waterproof, highly tear and puncture resistant, and remarkably light for its strength. Unlike ordinary plastic sheeting, it's a high-density polyethylene material made from millions of flash-spun fibres bonded together. Originally developed for the construction industry as a breathable weather barrier, it is used by hikers around the world as an ultralight groundsheet or tent footprint.
